Everybody has left for the day, but I am stuck in the office. Again.

Pink Floyd is one of those bands that has been with me since I was a boy. No matter where I was in life (geography or state of mind) they were always there with me. The power of the lyrics and the amazing guitar playing made it possible for me to escape my world and enter theirs.

Today's Candy Bar: No time for that today.

Science Link O' the Day: Human Error.

Song Stuck In My Head: Sort of sounds like a Carnival Carousel.

January 8th, 2006 - On The Road Again!

It's time to go. The holidays were nice but sadly too short. The project is what it is. They will be happy and I am definitely happy.

Today's Candy Bar: You'll just have to wait and see.

December 21st, 2006 - I Miss The Sun!

I seem to remember it as sort of yellow and hot and comforting.

My masters who I refer to as Neo Venus Construction have made it official; The final assignments need to be completed before the January meetings. The deadline looms. The red bull just ain't cutting it anymore and in fact does anyone know if this stuff can cause hallucinations? I suppose I can rest when I am dead. heh.

I need to look at the bright side of things (which is hard to do when it is always so dark outside). I am hoping to hook-up with a lot of friends while I am in San Francisco. It will be good to catch up with everyone and the party the company is throwing should be a great time. I mean seriously, free entertainment in the city? I just hope my backup can make it or else that could spell some real trouble for me.

When this is all said and done, maybe I will take some time off and "walk the earth." Wouldn't that be fun? Yeah, I'm gonna walk the earth.

Today's Candy Bar: Being patient and waiting for the right moment to strike.

December 18th, 2006 - Shopping is DONE!

Operation: Chocolate Bomb! worked perfectly. Phil saw the candy sitting in his chair when he arrived today and exclaimed "AH HA! I've got you now!" With great excitement he quickly logged into his computer to check the evidence. Sure to have his tormentors identity clearly revealed in full digital glory his fingers typed as fast as they could. Once logged in it would just be a few clicks of the mouse. With mouse pointer poised he was ready to open the folder where the Evil-doers image would be stored. A couple of our office mates and I stood at the door to Phil's office in anticipation of the grand unveiling. *Click-click* His breathing halted and his eyes widened, then his screen refreshed displaying a nearly empty folder. I say nearly empty because the poor janitor got his mugshot snapped when he came by and picked up Phil's trash. Other than that the folder was empty. Phil looked defeated and the crowd quickly dispersed. I almost feel sorry for the poor guy. I wonder if he has lost any sleep because of me?

Speaking of losing sleep the tests are going ok. We will continue to tweak the systems and hope for improvements. The bosses say to push onward and we are doing just that. The Southy Boys seem upbeat about the whole thing. Maybe it's because they know there is a trip to SF in it for them.

On a personal note, I got all of my Christmas shopping done this weekend. What a relief to not have to go back to the mall!

Today's Candy Bar: None today, the poor man has had enough.

December 15th, 2006 - Behind Enemy Lines.

Phil has gotten a little upset at me (well, not at me per se but at "Whoever keeps leaving the damn candy bars in my office!"). We all know that equals me except for Phil who confided in me that he was setting a trap for the candy bar culprit. The "Snicker Sneaker" as he put it.

Apparently he went out and bought a webcam and placed it in his office. Some sort of motion triggered system that will snap shots if it detects an intruder. He pointed the blasted thing at his door but has it hidden behind the speaker on his desk. He thinks he has outsmarted me! If only he knew he actually outsmarted himself by telling me. You see, the camera is pointed at the door to his office, but what he doesn't realize is that we have drop ceilings in our office building. With my office right next to his, all I have to do is get out the ladder after hours and I will be able to pop the ceiling tiles in my office and his office without it triggering the camera. I can just drop the candy bar onto his desk without the camera ever snapping a shot! Wish me well as I attempt Operation: Chocolate Bomb!

On a sidenote, the late nights at the office have been getting to me. Lack of sleep is a bad thing especially when you are working on a critical project. Anyway, the tiredness is making me feel like my brain is mush. Half the time I think I have left my keys on my desk and I find them somewhere else completely.

Today's Candy Bar: Late night drop. More to come.

Science Link O' the Day: No Heartbeat.

Song Stuck In My Head: Gonna Get Close To You

December 13th, 2006 - Business Tripping! PT. 2

John Lennon once penned, "Life is just what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Ain't that the truth.

I am looking forward to the trip. First of all, I'll be away from evil cat. Who knows what destruction he will wreak upon the apartment just to spite me for going on a trip but I don't care. It will be good to get out. I've warned my neighbor, Robert, about Akemi's demonic ways, but Rob isn't taking me too seriously. He thinks he'll just be able to traipse into the apartment, feed the beast, scoop the litter and scritch the cute lil' cat's ears a little before exiting. I've warned him, that's all I'll say.

But at least the trip will be more pleasant with three of the Southy Boys coming with. We'll be going as a TEAM, all commmando-style, so I can't be singled out. They've got my back, and I will have theirs! Plus, they'll get to warm up a bit in the west coast sun (temps ABOVE 0 for a change). We've vowed to go to Ghirardelli Square for chocolate, of course, Fisherman's Wharf for some cioppino and sourdough, and, most importantly, the Wax Museum if it's still there…particularly the Dungeon of Horrors - my favorite part. Tell me I don't have my priorities straight!

Our plan for the business meeting is to get in and get out, commando style. We've already worked out the answers to the standard "how ya been, whatcha been doin'" scripts so we can just zip under the radar hopefully and escape. I LOOOAAATTTHHHEEEE small talkie chit chat. There are so many more important things in the universe to discuss other than "How I am doing".

Today's Candy Bar: Wrapped precisely in gift wrap with a red bow and placed under his tiny desktop Christmas Tree.
BONUS: I also placed a tiny pickle ornament on his tree, let's see if he notices.

Science Link O' the Day: Dino on Ice!

December 5th, 2006 - Business Tripping!

I just got word today that I may have to go on a business trip after the New Year. Joy. I am really not the social type but apparently the powers that be need me to meet with some folks prior to the launch. Some sort of set of power meetings to make sure everything is in working order (a final sign-off I would guess) and then some social gathering to celebrate the impending launch.

Maybe I can get some of the Southy Boys time off so they can come with me! That's probably asking too much. I hate going to these things alone. At least I get to spend some time in "the city by the bay. The city that rocks. The city that never sleeps!" Yes, yes, I am ashamed of the Jefferson Starship reference, but sometimes I just can't control myself.

Today's Candy Bar: Filed under "C" for Chocolatey Goodness. Thank you "Wise One"!
